The Maddie/Meryl Project

Just as Julie Powell was inspired by her love of cooking and, specifically, Julia Child's cooking, to start a blog, conveniently called 'The Julie/Julia Project', so am I inspired by my love of acting, films and Meryl Streep to begin writing my own.

When I was fifteen or sixteen years of age, I was a huge fan of Nicole Kidman's, mainly due to her work in 'Moulin Rouge' and the fact that she was a redhead like myself. I went to the video store one afternoon and rented out 'The Hours', a film that I read won her the Academy Award for Best Actress and several other highly acclaimed awards. I watched the film in awe, admiring not only Kidman's performance, but Julianne Moore's and, of course, Meryl Streep's! I had seen Meryl Streep films in the past, but, at the time, did not possess the same appreciation for acting as I did when I saw her in 'The Hours', and even more so now.

As any enthusiast would, I began my research...
I read about Meryl Streep's career. How, at the time, she had been nominated for thirteen Academy Awards, and had only won one for Best Actress ('Sophie's Choice' - 1982) and one for Best Supporting Actress ('Kramer vs Kramer' - 1979). I read how she was a master of accents, from a Danish dialect to British to Polish to Australian with a hint of New Zealand! In my eyes, the woman is unstoppable! The next stage of my research was to watch YouTube clips, rent films, watch interviews, read interviews - get my hands on all things Meryl Streep! So here I am, today, continuing on this enthralling journey, taking it to the next level!

The Maddie/Meryl project is essentially this:
I will be watching every Meryl Streep film made in chronological order and blogging about my thoughts on each one. My review, so to speak, will cover an analysis on the acting, the overall message and what I learnt from it, and my rating (I will try to be as unbiased as I can). When I complete this project, I am open to any films or books that my readers would like me to review.

Let me just say that I am not a journalist or critic of any sort. My reviews and thoughts may not match the complexity or professionalism of any other journalist or critic's thoughts and opinions, this is just something fun and completely different to my life as a surviving university student!

That's all I have to say for now! I hope that by the end of my project I will have helped people have a deeper appreciation for acting, and maybe become a 'Streeper' themselves!

Welcome to my blog! I hope to share a little of the magic that I find in everyday life with you!!
